Happy Ash Wednesday and fish tacos too.

I’m not Catholic (tried, no can do) but For the past few years I’ve been thankful for Lent, because Taco John’s offers fish tacos this time of year. I like Taco John’s most of the time because the service is pretty fast, and you can order tasty, nutritious food for less than the burger joints. Sooo… thanks to you Catholics for bringing your buying power to bear on the cuisine at TJ’s. Much appreciated.

Thanks also go out to those who make King cakes. One of my co workers brought one in yesterday and I had just a small slice, but it was delicious.

  1. When I was in elementary school in the 50’s, the cafeteria always served fish on Fridays which, I heard, was for the Catholics. For the last 35 years, I’ve been a student of Scripture, but can’t find any mention of Lent. However, in Romans Chapter 14, I find that we, that is Christians, are FREE to observe or NOT to observe any day ” as unto the LORD”. Shhhh, don’t go around saying that ’cause freedom and liberty frightens religious folk–and especially the politicians. …where the Spirit of the LORD is, there is liberty. ( II Corinthians 3:17)

  2. Agreed. I don’t see Lent (or many other “christian” dogmas) in the scripture, either. I do enjoy the fish tacos, tho.
I think we’re on the same page. I tire of dogma, and find much solace in grace. Good thing it’s available-I need plenty.
